NEWS FROM CAMPUS

Art Is in the air
The weeklong Festival of the Arts (FOTA) will cover the quads with art beginning May 8. Students submitted proposals to the FOTA board in January to receive funding for their visual art, music, fashion, dance, and theatre projects. The University is also celebrating 60 Days of UChicago Art, which kicked off in April and includes the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Logan Center for Creative and Performing Arts.

Summer in the spring
Summer Breeze is a popular outdoor concert series that takes place each May, organized by students on the Major Activities Board. This year, the Dirty Projectors, Nas, and Damian Marley are headed to campus.

Chicago Careers in Public and Social Service
In surveys, more than 30% of Chicago students have shown interest in careers in the nonprofit, community service, or public service sectors. Chicago Careers in Public and Social Service (CCIPSS), a new program offered through Career Advising and Planning Services (CAPS), guides students interested in these fields. The program offers information sessions with employers, career exploration workshops, one-on-one counseling, and more. Interested students should visit the CAPS office on campus for further information.

Got stuff?
Personal property may be kept in the storage areas of each residence hall for students who live in the House System and who have reserved a room in the House System for the following academic year. The University will not assume liability for personal property placed in the storage areas, and discourages the storage of electronics or other valuables. Please note that the University reserves the right to limit the amount of stored items—the standard is five boxes. All items must be boxed and labeled; large pieces of furniture cannot be accommodated.

Attention, fourth-year parents
The University’s Spring Convocation and the College Diploma Ceremony will both take place on Saturday, June 12. Tickets are not required for entry, though a limited number of tickets will be provided for each graduate’s family for lunch between the two ceremonies. More information will be sent to graduating students in the coming weeks, including how to register for lunch tickets. To learn more, visit: http://convocation. uchicago.edu.
